Cheney's office announces heart transplant

Former Vice President Dick Cheney is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit atInova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA, after undergoing heart transplantsurgery on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

In 2010, Mr. Cheney had a left ventricular assist device implanted for the treatment of end stage heart failure. The former vice president is on the transplantlist for more than 20 months.

Although the former vice-president and his family do not know the identity of the donor, they will be forever grateful for this life saving gift.

Former Vice President Cheney is grateful to the teams of doctors and other medical professionals at Inova Fairfax and George Washington University Hospital for their continued excellent care.

Obama arrives in South Korea

Panmunjom, South Korea-President Barack Obama has arrived in South Korea to crawl with the world leaders for the 2012 Nuclear Security Summit and for meetings that are expected to focus on North Korea and the nuclear programs of Iran.
But before he begins a busy schedule of talks over three days, Obama will visit the heavily fortified demilitarized zone that North and South Korea divided.

Space junk threatens space station astronauts

NASA spokesman Rob Navias says space junk barely close enough to be a threat.But when it hits the station it can be dangerous, so the astronauts - two Americans,three Russians and a Dutchman - will wake up early and climb two Soyuz vehiclesready to rocket back to Earth in case.
The debris is believed to come closest to 2:38 EDT. It was not noticed until Friday, too late for the International Space Station to move out of the way.

Pink-hair suspension overruled by Delaware school district

Twelve-year-old Brianna Moore returned Tuesday to her sixth grade at Shue-Medill Middle School after Christina School District officials overruled a school rule that prohibited unnatural or "excessive" hair colors.Brianna said she was glad that the incident was behind her, but does not regret her attitude."I must stand up for myself as well," she said after getting off the bus Tuesday.Her father, Kevin Moore, said he was glad the district is quickly resolved the issue. "It's a crazy thing to get so uptight about it," he said.

Accused soldier, wife spoke briefly on phone twice

Staff Sgt. Robert Bales Bale Karilyn his wife, first from abroad named after the March 11 pre-selected dawn massacre, and a second period of the military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, on Wednesday, attorney Lance Rosen said.He added that he does not know what country Bale contact with his wife during the first call.Shortly after the shooting, was Bale, 38, moved from Afghanistan. It is held at Fort Leavenworth.

Police say guns found on man at Sacramento airport

Harold Waller, 45, was arrested Thursday afternoon after the Transportation Security Administration officials found a gun in his hand, said Sacramento CountySheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos.
If TSA screeners are thoroughly checked, they found Waller was carrying a loaded pistol, and had two other semi-automatic weapons in his baggage packed, Ramos said.
After Waller was arrested, deputies searched his car and said they found eightguns, some of which were loaded.
Those weapons were a combination of guns and what he described as "long guns."
Ramos said a "significant amount" ammunition was found in the car.
Waller, of Circleville, was Mont., Try a U.S. Airways flight to Phoenix to resign.

"It's a very terrible and horrible remark, and I'm glad I did not listen," he said.
